To our beautiful, fun, smart, capable, sweet, silly, precious gift,
Today (well, close enough) you turn 1. Your mama has decided that on your birthday we should celebrate her for going through labor. It was not fun! So she will be accepting your presents and cake on all future birthdays. You are welcome. :o) The truth? Labor was hard and painful, but Mama would do it again and again if it means that we get to have you in our lives. You have not only had your own growth and development this year, but have helped us to grow as well. Thank you, darling.
This past month you have been as energetic as ever. Actively going from toy to kitchen gadget to stairs, etc, etc, etc (said like Yul Brynner in "The King and I"). You love to discover what is inside containers, drawers, cabinets, and the refrigerator. Your new signs this past month were "bird", "up", "go" and, on occasion, "dog." You continue to be stubborn and not sign "please" and "thank you." You have many other signs, but you haven't taught us what they mean. You say "hi", "eat", "dada" and try to parrot other words. No new teeth, but boy are you working on them.
You are super smiley and love to wave at people and random objects. You cuddle and give hugs to mama. You give head bonks to dada. You give kisses to dogs . . . umm . . . we need to talk.
For your birthday we celebrated the day before with Nana's delicious pumpkin bread. You loved it and the frosting. Grandma was visiting, your friends Breanna and Ethan came over and we skyped with Nana and Papa. Even though Mom and Dad only got you one present you still came away with a TON of new clothes and toys. Your favorite? The card that plays music from Nana and Papa.
You have brought so much joy, purpose and fun into our lives in just one year! We look forward to all the adventure to come with you in our lives. You are so loved precious one!
God bless you,
Mama and Dada
Super cute! Okay so, why did she never go through that awkward not so cute stage? My boys always have a few months that aren't so cute - balding in spots, drool every where, etc... Maybe it's a girl thing. But Monica has been beautiful since day one! Can't wait to see you guys this summer! ( that's still he plan, right?)
