Me to Husband at 3ish am: Since Mary didn't have original sin does that mean she was spared labor pains?
Husband: It is permissible to believe either way, but it is traditionally thought that she was spared the pain of childbirth.
Me: Good, I choose to believe Mary had no pain because laboring or recovering . . . on a donkey?! I don't think so!
(Don't try to theologically explain that one to me, just take it as a delusional thought)

I was having a hormonal/ tired break down full of negative talk, enter mid-conversation. . .
My Mom: You are a great a mom!
Me: I'm a horrible mother, I can't even console my own child!
Mom: When have I ever lied to you?
Me: Santa Claus
Hysterical laughing commenced between Mom and me, Tony reentered the room from the kitchen looking concerned about the quick transition between tears and laughter.

My wise pediatric nurse Aunt Kathy said, "Having a newborn is like having a new baby everyday." Monica is back to her cheery self today. I wonder what child will be here tomorrow?
the motto that got me through Max a lot better than Avila was: ONE day at a time! Today could be horrible, but tonight or tomorrow could be better. it is so hard to see te big picture, but you will be sleeping soon, I promise! hope to meet her soon!
ReplyDeleteKristine
Another motto I got from Kristine: The days are long (sometimes VERY long) and the years are short. Truly, it goes so quickly, even though in the thick of it, it's very hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you're reading Parenting With Grace -- let me know what you think! He's pretty opinionated on the one "right" way for Catholic parents to raise children, but I liked it a lot and would love to hear what you think.
Love and prayers to you all!
Since I have been pregnant for 3 Advents I have had plenty of time to reflect on the HUGE differences between the way (I assume) Mary handled her pregnancy and the way I handle mine. Talk about humbling.
ReplyDeleteMary on a donkey reminds me of when Isaac was 10 days old. Jamie and Jessi and Isaiah were visiting and we went to the Carousel at River front Park. Zach asked, "Are you sure you don't want to ride it?" I was like, "Are you flipping kidding me!?! I just squeezed a human being out of me! I barely want to walk much less ride a wood horse as it goes up and down!"
Any way I agree with your mom - you are a good mom! I know it and I haven't even seen you in action :)
